Title: Glimpse (The Dean Curse Chronicles #1)

Author: Steven Whibley

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Published: April 11, 2013

I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

After Dean tried to save a stranger he began seeing visions of people dying.

The story was engaging and well thought out. For a fantasy the premise was realistic enough to be plausible complete with a mythology given to lend credence. The characters were likable.

There were a couple of things that bugged me. None of the adults listened to what the teenagers were saying. They knew what they expected to hear as reactions to the events in the book, then they would bend what was said to them to fit those expectations. The four main teenagers we read about all came across as younger than their declared ages. I had a hard time with this normal teenage boy in a normal town encountering that many people he actually knew who were going to die within such a short time.

I thought the end was creative in its resolution and liked how the characters all dealt with the aftermath.

Overall I gave this story 3 stars out of 5.
