Title: Sapphire Blue (The Ruby Red Trilogy #2)
Author: Kerstin Gier
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult
Published: October 30, 2012
The book picked up where the first left off. Gwen was still being sent into the past to accomplish things which she still didn't know the end result to. She did gain a new friend in Xemerius a gargoyle demon who helped her keep track of things.
I honestly wondered what Gwen saw in Gideon. Part of my problem is since the beginning of the first book only a week has passed, but she has decided she was madly in love with the boy. What he had going for him, he was supposed very cute and he played a musical instrument. He however did not have a high opinion of women, especially Gwen. He refused to tell her what was really going on and what they were trying to accomplish. He would go from hot, kissing and talking about how wonderful she was, to cold, barely acknowledging her presence and when he did acknowledge her he was incredibly rude. She spent a good portion of the book obsessing over him and his thoughts about her. Kinda baffled me.
My favorite interactions were between Gwen and her grandfather. There were two scenes between the two and I would have liked to see more or at least see those two scenes in greater detail. I thought he had an interesting perspective and liked the relationship they had.
I am really interested in how the series will end, not enough to go out and buy the book. I have it on hold at the library, but I do plan on reading it as soon as I get a hold of a copy.
Overall I gave this book 4 stars out of 5.
