Title: Heat Rises (Nikki Heat #3)

Author: Richard Castle

Genre: Mystery, TV/Movies

Published: September 20, 2011

A priest was found killed in a bondage club. As the investigation continued Nikki found herself in the middle of a conspiracy.

The best part of the book was the references to the television show. On more than one occasion I was able to say ha I know which episode that seen came from. Often it was in those scenes I would also find myself laughing.

My biggest hangup was the blocking and backstabbing within the story. Nikki was doing her job and she was doing it well, but despite her exceptional performance in the past she had her badge taken away and she was forced to work outside the system. It was sudden and really didn't feel authentic because the provocation really didn't seem a good enough reason to punish her that severely.

I did enjoy this book more than the first two. The mystery was more involved and took me longer to actually figure out. I was excited I didn't know who the killer was when I first met them, which happened in the first book.

Overall I gave this book 4 stars out of 5.
