Review: The Forgotten Ones

Title: The Forgotten Ones ( The Danaan Trilogy #1)

Author: Laura Howard

Genre: Young Adult (pretending to be New Adult), Fantasy

Published: April 28, 2013

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Allison's mother had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, she blamed herself and decided her mother was her responsibility to take care of. Then she found out from the father she had never met that there was more to her mother's illness than she knew.

I am all for the concept of taking care of your elders especially since they used to take care of you. I don't think you should feel guilt for the consequences someone else experiences from the choices they have made and guilt seemed to be Allison's motivation for most of what she did.

The guy interested in Allison, Ethan, was the best part of the book. He was sweet and at least in my head pretty darn cute. He did not deserve all the crap Allison put him through within the story.

There was no sense of closure. The only real progression made within the story was Allison's understanding of what was really happening. The book was just a set up for the next in the series. If there had been a side conflict that was resolved so I could feel like the characters had made some sort of progress I think I would have liked it better.

Overall I gave this book 3 stars out of 5.
